build: prefer `USE_IPV6` macro internally (was: `ENABLE_IPV6`) Before this patch, two macros were used to guard IPv6 features in curl sources: `ENABLE_IPV6` and `USE_IPV6`. This patch makes the source use the latter for consistency with other similar switches. `-DENABLE_IPV6` remains accepted for compatibility as a synonym for `-DUSE_IPV6`, when passed to the compiler. `ENABLE_IPV6` also remains the name of the CMake and `Makefile.vc` options to control this feature. CURLOPT_ADDRESS_SCOPE: fix range check and more Commit 9081014 fixed most of the confusing issues between scope id and scope however 844896d added bad limits checking assuming that the scope is being set and not the scope id. I have fixed the documentation so it all refers to scope ids. In addition Curl_if2ip refered to the scope id as remote_scope_id which is incorrect, so I renamed it to local_scope_id. IPV6: address scope != scope id There was a confusion between these: this commit tries to disambiguate them. - Scope can be computed from the address itself. - Scope id is scope dependent: it is currently defined as 1-based local interface index for link-local scoped addresses, and as a site index(?) for (obsolete) site-local addresses. Linux only supports it for link-local addresses. The URL parser properly parses a scope id as an interface index, but stores it in a field named "scope": confusion. The field has been renamed into "scope_id". Curl_if2ip() used the scope id as it was a scope. This caused failures to bind to an interface. Scope is now computed from the addresses and Curl_if2ip() matches them. If redundantly specified in the URL, scope id is check for mismatch with the interface index. This commit should fix SF bug #1451.

connect: treat an interface bindlocal() problem as a non-fatal error I am using curl_easy_setopt(CURLOPT_INTERFACE, "if!something") to force transfers to use a particular interface but the transfer fails with CURLE_INTERFACE_FAILED, "Failed binding local connection end" if the interface I specify has no IPv6 address. The cause is as follows: The remote hostname resolves successfully and has an IPv6 address and an IPv4 address. cURL attempts to connect to the IPv6 address first. bindlocal (in lib/connect.c) fails because Curl_if2ip cannot find an IPv6 address on the interface. This is a fatal error in singleipconnect() This change will make cURL try the next IP address in the list. Also included are two changes related to IPv6 address scope: - Filter the choice of address in Curl_if2ip to only consider addresses with the same scope ID as the connection address (mismatched scope for local and remote address does not result in a working connection). - bindlocal was ignoring the scope ID of addresses returned by Curl_if2ip . Now it uses them. Bug: http://curl.haxx.se/bug/view.cgi?id=1189

build: fix circular header inclusion with other packages This commit renames lib/setup.h to lib/curl_setup.h and renames lib/setup_once.h to lib/curl_setup_once.h. Removes the need and usage of a header inclusion guard foreign to libcurl. [1] Removes the need and presence of an alarming notice we carried in old setup_once.h [2] ---------------------------------------- 1 - lib/setup_once.h used __SETUP_ONCE_H macro as header inclusion guard up to commit ec691ca3 which changed this to HEADER_CURL_SETUP_ONCE_H, this single inclusion guard is enough to ensure that inclusion of lib/setup_once.h done from lib/setup.h is only done once. Additionally lib/setup.h has always used __SETUP_ONCE_H macro to protect inclusion of setup_once.h even after commit ec691ca3, this was to avoid a circular header inclusion triggered when building a c-ares enabled version with c-ares sources available which also has a setup_once.h header. Commit ec691ca3 exposes the real nature of __SETUP_ONCE_H usage in lib/setup.h, it is a header inclusion guard foreign to libcurl belonging to c-ares's setup_once.h The renaming this commit does, fixes the circular header inclusion, and as such removes the need and usage of a header inclusion guard foreign to libcurl. Macro __SETUP_ONCE_H no longer used in libcurl. 2 - Due to the circular interdependency of old lib/setup_once.h and the c-ares setup_once.h header, old file lib/setup_once.h has carried back from 2006 up to now days an alarming and prominent notice about the need of keeping libcurl's and c-ares's setup_once.h in sync. Given that this commit fixes the circular interdependency, the need and presence of mentioned notice is removed. All mentioned interdependencies come back from now old days when the c-ares project lived inside a curl subdirectory. This commit removes last traces of such fact.

CURLOPT_INTERFACE: avoid resolving interfaces names Do not try to resolve interfaces names via DNS by recognizing interface names in a few ways. If the interface option argument has a prefix of "if!" then treat the argument as only an interface. Similarly, if the interface argument is the name of an interface (even if it does not have an IP address assigned), treat it as an interface name. Finally, if the interface argument is prefixed by "host!" treat it as a hostname that must be resolved by /etc/hosts or DNS. These changes allow a client using the multi interfaces to avoid blocking on name resolution if the interface loses its IP address or disappears.
